Antique French walking stick dating from circa 1890, finely carved in bone and extensively decorated throughout the shaft.
The walking stick features an exceptionally elaborate carved bone shaft composed of numerous sections, richly decorated with geometric, vegetal and spiral motifs. The handle is also extensively carved and decorated in relief, creating a highly ornamental appearance.
The extensive hand-carving throughout the shaft makes this an unusual and distinctive example of late 19th-century walking-stick craftsmanship.
The bone has developed a warm natural patina with age. The piece shows signs of age and use, including minor cracks, separations between some carved sections and surface wear, as visible in the photographs.
