Luba - R.D. Congo

In this mask, the extension of the nose in the form of a central ridge down to the edge of the forehead is
made from furred animal skin, which is why it is a male mask. Given its shape and sculptural treatment,
it may originate from the north-east of the Luba country, in the Kasongo area near the Lualaba River. In terms of its sculptural treatment, expressiveness and age, it is exceptional.
