Lot Description (English)Description:An exceptional and highly collectible copy of the scarce First Edition, first impression of Eric Gill's "Twenty-Five Nudes", published in 1938 by J.M. Dent & Sons Ltd. for the renowned private press Hague & Gill Ltd. A milestone in 20th-century modern printmaking and Arts and Crafts editorial design. The volume contains the author's introductory essay followed by the complete set of 25 stunning white-line nude engravings printed against contrasting dark backgrounds.Condition Report:Interior: In outstanding, near-immaculate condition. The text block, half-title page, beautifully integrated red and black title page, and all 25 plates are exceptionally clean, crisp, and bright, completely free from foxing or heavy toning. Bold, bright gilt lettering on the spine and front board of the firm, solid red cloth binding. Faint vintage pencil bookseller notations on the endpapers.Dust Jacket: 100% original and complete. Crucially, it is NOT price-clipped, retaining the original "6s net" price on the lower corner of the rear flap—a premium detail highly prized by elite collectors. The jacket displays natural age-toning (darkening to the spine), minor surface dust-soiling, and some chipping/small closed tears along the edges and spine ends. No significant paper loss affecting the main jacket illustrations.A top-tier investment piece for discerning collectors of modern master prints and fine press books.
