The "Poggio Abate" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from the La Poderina estate is an elegant, complex, and aromatically rich wine, crafted from the finest Sangiovese grapes grown on the estate's own vineyards. It is the winery's flagship label, representing the ultimate expression of Sangiovese from the Castelnuovo dell’Abate area—a zone renowned as one of the most compelling within the celebrated Montalcino territory. After two years of wood aging, the wine acquires harmony and finesse, displaying aromas of small red berries, spicy nuances, and refined notes of maturity. The "Poggio Abate" Riserva is born from a selection of the estate's best grapes, harvested by hand at peak ripeness. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, involving skin maceration, pump-overs, and *délestage*. The wine matures for 24 months in oak barrels prior to bottling. In the glass, it presents a ruby red color with garnet highlights. The bouquet is elegant and refined, offering floral scents alongside aromas of cherry, small forest fruits, sour cherries in spirits, and redcurrant jam, complemented by spicy and toasted undertones and hints of tobacco, leather, and vanilla. On the palate, it is refined, intense, and aromatically multifaceted rich yet characterized by fine tannins. The finish is remarkably persistent, pleasantly savory, and refreshing.
