Exquisite 17th century Old Master still-life painting depicting an opulent bunch of grapes, surrounded by other fruits including prunes, long radishes and a lemon.

Created more than 300 years ago, almost like a photograph from a glorious past, the artist very skilfully captured the delicious and delicate nature of the various fruits, expertly rendering their soft and crisp texture, creating a beautiful memento of baroque abundance. Reminding us of the sweetness and abundance of life (grapes and prunes) but also its occasional bitterness (lemon). The long radishes are a special detail as they are very rare to find in still-lifes from the time, (only) Frans Van Everbroeck has depicted them frequently in his works.

Frans van Everbroeck was a 17th-century Flemish painter celebrated for his intricate still-life paintings, particularly floral arrangements. Active in Antwerp during the Baroque period, Van Everbroeck captured the era’s fascination with realism and depth, often featuring roses, tulips, and lilies in meticulously detailed compositions. His work reflects a mastery of color, light, and form, making him a prominent figure among Flemish still-life painters of his time. His paintings remain admired in museums and collections for their elegance and technical skill.

The oil on canvas measures ca. 60 by 48 cms and with the frame (offered as a gift to the buyer) ca. 76 by 65 cms.
