Thank you for your understanding. ■Description A rectangular document box (fubako / bunbako) decorated in the style of traditional Japanese lacquerware. The lid features a finely rendered pair of cranes in flight above stylized pine motifs, executed in gold and colored maki-e technique, with a red artist’s seal at the corner. The interior is finished in a rich sprinkled-gold lacquer (nashiji effect). This piece is made of synthetic lacquer (cashew lacquer on resin base), as stated on the accompanying label, a material widely adopted in the post-war Showa to Heisei era (late 20th century) to reproduce the aesthetic of classical lacquer at more accessible prices. Such works were produced for both domestic tea-related use and for the export market, reflecting Japan’s continuing appreciation of auspicious motifs—cranes for longevity, pines for steadfastness and endurance. ■Condition Very good overall; minimal handling marks; original storage box with printed instructions included.
