Frank Machalowski - 3 Darkroom prints from the series "The water, the beach and the open sea"

These are 3 handmade darkroom prints from the series "The water, the beach and the open sea" by the artist Frank Machalowski. There are 3 unique pieces. Produced by the artist himself in the darkroom in November 2011. The photo paper (cardboard-thick baryta paper) is not completely flat; it is slightly wavy. Papersize: 25cm x 20,2cm Imagesize: 18cm x 18cm All three photos were taken in 2011 on the German Baltic Sea coast. The photos were taken with a Hasselblad medium format camera on black and white film. No AI was used. The photos will be shipped with a certificate. About the series: "The water, the beach and the open sea" is a contemplative photo series exploring the timeless dialogue between land and ocean. Blending color and black-and-white imagery, the collection moves fluidly between analog and digital mediums, capturing both the rawness and subtle poetry of coastal landscapes. Long-exposure shots transform crashing waves into silky veils, while crisp frames freeze fleeting details—ripples in wet sand, footprints disappearing at the shoreline. Each photograph speaks to the rhythm of nature, where water meets rock, light dissolves into mist, and the horizon remains ever just out of reach. The juxtaposition of formats—grainy film beside ultra-sharp digital—invites viewers to reflect on perception, memory, and change. Whether captured under moody skies or in golden sunlight, every image in the series is rooted in a deep respect for the sea’s shifting moods and the quiet power of its presence. This is not just a series about place, but about feeling.
