This 30-year-old Glenrothes 1988 was bottled from a single refill American hogshead cask #16544 that yielded just 200 bottles at its hefty natural cask strength of 58.5%, a consequence of the distillery's unusual practice of casking their spirit at full distillation strength (around 69%) rather than diluting to the industry standard 63.5%. Glenrothes is more commonly seen from first fill or refill sherry casks, so this refill hogshead will be an unusual treat for Speyside fans
