A very elegant bed linen i would call this linen. The way it has been "choreographed" with the beautifully drawn intertwined flower design under the initials it has the image of a French Bourgeoisie family's Crest. The initials L.D. are partially embroidered in very high relief and the tops of the initials have been outlined and then filled in with "pinhead" embroidery. The flowers and leaves which are holding the initials are exemplary and very charming. The border has the classic Ajour de Venise. (open thread work edgings) For the early 20th Century the width is generous at 2m20 and will deck a bed up to 2m20. This bed linen would of course have been a marriage linen, and also especially ordered as the weaving looms would have been only 1 meter wide in those days.
