Nakaji Yasui etc - The Japan Photographic Annual 1927 - 1928 - 1928

The Japan Photographic Annual 1927 - 1928 Nakaji Yasui etc Asahi newspaper company/1928/Japanese/265*190*20 (Included in The Japanese Photobook 1912–1990) This book is the fourth edition of the “Nihon Keishin Nenkan” (Japan Yearbook of Photography) series published by the Asahi Shimbun from 1925, which has contributed greatly to the popularization of photography in general, including both news and art, through such activities as the first issue of the Asahi Graph, the Asahi Camera, and the Kimura Ihei Photo Award. From the 1920s to the 1930s, the Asahi Shimbun worked to promote the development of “artistic photography,” and introduced the work of many photographers, both well-known and unknown, through its open call for entries to its monthly magazine. As in previous editions up to the third edition, this book contains over 100 works by both professional and amateur photographers, including Fukuhara Shinzo, Fukuhara Michikusa, Kakefuda Isao, Fuchigami Hakuyo, Shimada Kinsuke, Nishiyama Kiyoshi, Yoneya Benami, Yasui Nakaji, and others, and is accompanied by texts by Fukuhara, Fuchigami, and others. The editor was Reikawa Narisawa (Kinbei), who served as the first editor-in-chief of Asahi Graph and was a student of Kanzo Uchimura when he was a student. The elaborate binding, which uses three types of printing paper according to the illustrations, is a work of art that transcends the documentary element of a so-called photographic almanac. Partially in English and partially in Japanese.
