2015 C. da Silva, Dalva White - Colheita Port - Oporto - 3 Botellas (0,75 L)

C. da Silva, 2015 Dalva Colheita White Port 3 x 0.75L 3 Bottles Port Wine WINEMAKER: José Manuel Sousa Soares AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 93 Points, International Wine Challenge 18 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas WINE VARIETIES: Old vines. VINIFICATION After being destemmed, the grapes are crushed and pressed. Fermentation occurs after decantation, without contact with the grape skins. The fermentation process is interrupted at the ideal time, in accordance with the traditional method of producing Port Wine, which involves stopping fermentation by adding wine-based spirit. This is followed by a prolonged aging in wood, which gives these wines complex aromas and flavors. These are wines from a single harvest, which reveal the character of the year. Aging in casks continues until the moment of bottling, with the date indicated on the back label. TASTING NOTES On the nose, it stands out for its aromatic complexity, with aromas of ripe apricot, orange blossom and subtle sweet spices. Intense and enveloping on the palate, revealing fresh notes of citrus fruits with hints of molasses. Balanced and elegant aftertaste. SERVING Excellent as an aperitif, accompanying foie gras, desserts such as crème brûlée, apple or almond pie. It should be served between 12ºC and 14ºC, in order to reveal all its elegance. HISTORY In 1933, having just arrived from Brazil, Clemente da Silva realized his lifelong dream, creating an excellent wine house that would lead him to the globalization of his business: C. da Silva – resulting from the abbreviation of his name. A year later he registered the brand Dalva, which results from the contraction “da Silva”. With a simple and very Portuguese sound, success was easy to achieve in different markets. Looking for an activity in which to invest the capital from his business in Brazil, the young entrepreneur takes advantage of the close collaboration with the company Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos, founded in 1862, and owned by his wife's family, to build up his initial stocks and give the first steps in the business, with Vintage Ports from 1896, 1912 or 1920 being famous. Combining centuries-old knowledge and techniques with new technologies and innovation, Dalva's portfolio is unique and distinct, presenting an unparalleled offer of Colheita Port Wines, which include unique and limited editions, the classic Vintage Port Wines, and a range exclusive range of White Port Wines, culminating in the aged and dated Golden White and Dry White collection. PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s).
