"Mt. Fuji at Dawn near Hara" -The Fifty Three Stations of the Tokaido- Unsodo edition - NO RESERVE - Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) - Japón (Sin precio de reserva)

Masterpiece from Hiroshige’s series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido 東海道五拾三次 Title: "Mt. Fuji at Dawn near Hara" 原 朝之富士 Artist: Hiroshige Utagawa 歌川広重 (1797-1858) Technique: Japanese woodblock print This is reproduced by Unsodo. Mount Fuji's most beautiful view can be seen from near "Hara." The mountain's beauty and size are emphasized, spilling out of the frame. This is known as a representative piece showcasing the Fuji's striking beauty. This morning scene is set near Ukishimagahara. The majestic, snow-capped Mt. Fuji appears up close. The right side of the mountain is bathed in the morning sun, tinting the white snow a faint crimson, while the distant western sky is a clear blue. Hiroshige's skill in conveying the chill of the morning through the cranes alight in the marsh is truly remarkable. Two women and their male companions pause in their tracks, captivated by the mountain's majestic scene. The innovative composition, in which Mt. Fuji's peak extends beyond the frame, suggests a sense of rivalry with the already popular Mt. Fuji of Katsushika Hokusai. In 1832, Hiroshige first traveled from his home in Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto along the Tokaido road. The journey was an eye opening and life changing experience for him. As an urban man of Edo he had experienced life mainly in the capital. He immediately returned to Edo after the trip and began his masterwork woodblock series from the sketches he had made on his journey. Hiroshige's Tokaido prints are an opportunity to be transported back in time to see this world as Hiroshige did in the shadow of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The woodblock print is in excellent condition Dimensions Paper size: 280 x 410 mm Image size: 220 x 345 mm Shipment with tracking we do combine shipments for woodblock prints, please have a look at our weekly selection of Japanese fine arts!
