Portieux-Vallerysthal - Jarrón - Vidrio opalescente

An exceptional vase made of opalescent glass in a rare, milky-blue shade. It is a beautiful example of decorative glass from the transitional period circa 1890–1920. Features and Craftsmanship Material (Opalescent Glass): The glass is milky and semi-translucent, characterized by a natural opalescent glow. In transmitted light, the edges and thicker areas take on an intensified milky-blue hue, achieved by adding calcium phosphate to the glass mixture. The vase features a slender neck and a rounded, bulbous body. Its lower section is decorated with a distinctive raised Hobnail/Raspberry pattern, reminiscent of raspberries or blackberries, while the widely flared, wavy rim is a hallmark of Art Nouveau and late Victorian trumpet-shaped vases. Origin and Dating Portieux-Vallerysthal (PV) – one of the oldest and most renowned French producers of opalescent and coloured pressed glass. Estimated production period: circa 1890–1920. Technical Details Style: Early Art Nouveau Origin: France Manufacturer: Portieux-Vallerysthal (PV) Height: 16 cm Top diameter (rim to rim): 8 cm Body diameter (widest point): 7.5 cm Base diameter: 5 cm Condition Very good vintage condition. No major cracks. Due to age and the pressed-glass manufacturing process, minor irregularities are possible: tiny nicks or roughness on the thin, crimped rim, as well as subtle tool marks on the underside. The vase displays a beautiful, strong opalescence. This vase is perfect for collectors of antique opalescent glass, lovers of Art Nouveau and Victorian decorative arts, and anyone seeking a unique, atmospheric accent piece for an elegant interior.
