Rare and nice heteromorph ammonites Spiny Crioceratites majoricensis from the Upper Hauterivian, zona baleare. This museum quality Crioceratites specimen was discovered and prepared by a renowned fossil preparator and collector . Many painstaking hours of work was needed to expose the three-dimensional form of the fossil from the matrix. Note that spines rarely fossilize, are incredibly difficult to prepare and some likely wore off during the ammonite's lifetime. In this specimen spines have been reconstructed when the specimen is been prepared to show how it might have appeared in life.
