Antiguo Egipto Fayenza Amuleto Dios Anubis. 4,5 cm H. Período Tardío, 664 - 332 a.C.

Amulet of god Anubis Ancient Egypt, Late Period, 664 - 323 BC 4,5 cm height Condition: Good, see photos. Provenance: Private collection, London, acquired in the 2000. Before from a english collection, 1980. Anubis was one of the most important deities in ancient Egypt, associated with death, mummification, and tomb protection. He was depicted as a man with the head of a jackal or as a black jackal, an animal linked to cemeteries due to its presence in desert areas where bodies were buried. Anubis played a crucial role in the funeral process. He was believed to supervise mummification and guide the soul of the deceased on its journey to the afterlife. One of his best-known functions was to participate in the “Judgment of Osiris,” where he weighed the heart of the dead on a scale against the feather of Maat, symbol of truth. If the heart was lighter or equal, the soul could enter the Egyptian paradise. Although Osiris eventually assumed the primary role as god of the underworld, Anubis remained a central figure in funeral rituals and protector of tombs. His black color symbolized the regeneration and fertility of the Nile, as well as being associated with decay and resurrection. The ancient Egyptians worshipped him, seeking protection in the afterlife and security for their bodies and eternal souls.
