Set of five vintage gilded bronze Thai Teppanom guardian angels Modelled after the iconic statues found at the entrance of Buddhist temples in Thailand. The hands of the statues are in a "wai" (praying) gesture to offer respect. Thepphanom are believed to have descended to Earth when the Buddha reached enlightenment, after which they became protectors and guardians of religious temples and artifacts. They are often presented in pairs, a man and a woman. Many natives believe the statues protect their homes or land of evil spirits.
