“Ultramarine Mood”
I created this work as a state of being — not a narrative, but an immersion into calmness, gentle melancholy, and inner light.
The heroine dissolves into an ultramarine space where reality yields to dream. A branch with fiery leaves seems to guard her silence, while her golden dress becomes a source of warmth within the cool depth of blue.
For me, ultramarine is the color of the soul’s breath. It is not cold — it is infinite. Within this boundless hue, flashes of coral, emerald, and amber emerge like memories rising from the depths. I sought to convey the moment when time slows down and the world becomes soft and fluid.
Technique & Artistic Approach
This work is executed in acrylic on canvas using a pronounced impasto technique.
Acrylic is applied in thick, expressive layers, creating a tactile, relief-like surface.
The fast-drying nature of acrylic allows for layered brushwork, building complex texture and depth.
The impasto enhances the emotional intensity of the colors — they are not only seen but almost felt.
The contrast between ultramarine and warm accents creates a sense of inner luminosity.
Raised brushstrokes interact with light, causing the painting to change depending on illumination and viewing angle.
I work with a palette knife and broad brushes, allowing texture to become part of the image and color to speak freely and boldly.
This painting is about the stillness in which light is born.
