Red Setter/Hunting Dog Pipe Pick / Pijpen Wroeter
Pipe Pick, in Dutch “PijpenWroeter” or just “wroeter” was a common tool used to “fluff” the bowl or just to help clean out tobacco and ash.
They often came in the form of animals, but ships were also incredibly popular and have become very desirable. Hunting animals, as well as others inspired by military, royal or historical/mythical figures are also popular. Often they were gifted, or custom made around a smokers interest or job.
This stunning and incredibly well detailed example is in the form of a dog, possibly a hunting dog or a red setter . It is 78mm long and 7.3 g
The Hallmark is the sign of silversmith Wed.J.H. van der Meulen in Joure and the date is the 1960s or early 70s.
