Pontiac - 1950 Courbée - Ei pohjahintaa - Ref. 797 - Miehet - 1950
Up for auction is a very rare “Courbée” art deco style watch for the real collector!
The Pontiac Courbée is a watch with a rich history and a unique story. The watch brand Pontiac was introduced in 1931 by the Dutch Ali Kinsbergen, and was produced in Biel, Switzerland. The goal of the founders of Pontiac was to make the best watch accessible to everyone, by providing high quality at a reasonable price. Pontiac only became really known after the fall of the Dutch rider, Wim van Elst, in the Tour de France of 1951, where Pontiac launched an advertising campaign with the legendary words: "Tik Tak Pontiac. I fell seventy meters deep, my heart stood still, but my Pontiac was running....". This watch is a unique piece for collectors and lovers of special stories and good quality.
