Baktrialainen Alabasteri 3 alusta
Three Bactrian alabaster vessels (1st millenium BC)
Group of three carved alabaster vessels from ancient Bactria, dating to the 1st millennium BC. The pieces display the characteristic elegance of Bactrian craftsmanship, with simple and harmonious forms.
Alabaster was highly valued in Bactria for the production of small vessels used in domestic, cosmetic, or ritual contexts. Located at the crossroads between Mesopotamia, Iran, and the Indus Valley, Bactria developed a distinctive artistic tradition within the Oxus Civilization, known for refined stone carving and balanced aesthetic proportions.
An attractive and representative group illustrating the material culture of one of Central Asia’s most important ancient civilizations.
