Elek Lux (1884-1941), after finishing his studies at the Budapest School of Applied Arts, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. In 1922 he became a teacher of sculpture at the Budapest School of Applied Arts. His sculpture designs were purchased by Herend and Zsolnay, the two most famous porcelain factories in Hungary. The statue in the auction is known as "Desire" and was designed between 1920 and 1945. This porcelain is glazed with blue iridescent eosin, a process patented by the chemist Wartha Vince (1844-1914), which made Zsolnay famous worldwide. Dimensions: 25 x 10 x 15 cm Very good condition.
