Oban 14yo + Talisker Port Ruighe - 70cl - 2 pullojen
Oban 14 YO Whisky 43% vol. 0.70l
In the heart of Scotland's winding west coast, where long inlets cut into the mainland and great islands sit like giant stepping stones in the water, lies the Oban distillery. Founded in 1794 in the village of Oban, it remains one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries today, operating with just two stills and an annual production of less than 700,000 liters of alcohol.
Oban’s whiskies masterfully combine two beloved flavor profiles: the smoky, peaty character of Islay whiskies (produced not far away) and the delicate, fruity notes of Speyside malts. This unique balance has earned Oban a prestigious reputation among whisky enthusiasts. Their flagship single malt, the Oban 14, has been a core staple of the range since the 1980s. The distillery still prioritizes a slow production process, which accounts for the 14-year-old’s exceptional balance and suppleness. A notably long fermentation in the washbacks—lasting 110 hours compared to the standard 50—develops rich fruity notes, while the slow distillation process ensures its characteristic gentleness.
Jim Murray awarded this whisky 79 points.
This sumptuous Oban 14 YO sits halfway between Speyside and Islay, both geographically and in flavor. Robust and smoky, yet never masking its silky, fruity Highland notes, this west coast classic surprises both the nose and palate. Despite its small-batch origins, this Highlander stands tall among the giants.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Peat is present but subtle, in perfect harmony with notes of walnuts, oak, and sea breeze. Its almost oily texture carries hints of honey and fruit, leading into a long, relatively dry finish of smoke, wood, and peat. It features scents of spicy oak, the fruity sweetness of dark berries, and a savory touch of seagrass and malt.
Palate: Silky smooth, with maritime flavors of sea salt finely combined with light sweetness and a hint of peat smoke infused into the malt.
Finish: Persistent and slightly oak-spiced, with a distinct smoky note and a drier character.

Talisker Port Ruighe Whisky 45.8% vol. 0.70l
This double-matured single malt, finished in Port casks, pays tribute to the merchants who braved the high seas to bring Port wine to the world. "Port Ruighe" (pronounced 'Port Ree') is the Gaelic name for the town on the Isle of Skye that once served as a bustling trading port. The Port finish blends Talisker’s intense, maritime character with the juicy sweetness of ripe berries, creating a surprising and rich experience of contrasts.
Country: Scotland
Region: Isle of Skye
Distillery: Talisker
