Fine middle-sized ancestor figure used in the Ewe-community of Togo. These figures were placed on family-altars and were used in times of need to consult with the ancestors. To empower the consultation these figures were rubbed-in with red ocre to make the figure more strong, as seen on the presented figure.. Typical robot-like design of the face. Well-carved face with small protruding mouth. Rudimentary carved eyes. Height.;34 cm. Collected in Togo in the late 1990`s.
