Kaiverrussetti (3) - Hybrid Silver -veitsisarja
A beautiful and functional hybrid antique French carving set comprising a large carving knife, carving fork and a Manche à Gigot (traditional leg-of-lamb bone holder).
The set combines two harmonious yet distinct makers, both renowned Parisian silversmiths:
• The carving knife (L 32.5 cm) and carving fork (L 28.5 cm) feature filled handles in .950 silver (French 1st title / Minerva hallmark – right-facing, though partially worn). The maker is possibly Alphonse Debain, Paris (active 1883–1911). Blade and tines are high-quality metal plate. Please note: the final photo of the maker's mark is not from this item - it is intended to illustrate what I can see.
• The Manche à Gigot (L 21 cm) has a matching filled .950 silver handle by Lapparra & Gabriel, Paris (1902–1923). The functional parts are also metal plate.
All pieces display elegant floral and scrollwork decoration in a classic French style that complements perfectly despite the different makers. The set was previously appraised by the prestigious French auction house Rennes Enchères.
Knife blade is still sharp and fully functional
Excellent condition with beautiful patina – no major dents, cracks or repairs
Perfect for use or display; a lovely addition to any French silverware or table-art collection
This is a rare “hybrid” set of genuine French .950 silver pieces from two important Paris houses, combining practicality with refined elegance. Ideal for collectors of antique French flatware, carving sets or Manche à Gigot enthusiasts.
