This anthropomorphic statuette is a refined example of the sculptural genius of the Yaka people, settled in the Kwango region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The work is distinguished by a remarkable fine carving, visible in the modeling of the face and the dynamic posture of the body. It features the classic aesthetic canons of Yaka culture, including the characteristic upturned nose and almond-shaped eyes, which lend the piece an expression that is both mischievous and protective.
