Fine Kutani-yaki Matcha Bowl (Chawan) - "Aotsubu" (Blue Dots) & Gold-painted Clematis - Signed "Shuho" - Japan - Late 20th Century
A beautiful and classic Japanese Matcha tea bowl (Chawan) of Kutani ware (Kutani-yaki). This piece features the exquisite "Aotsubu" technique, characterized by thousands of meticulously hand-applied microscopic blue dots, creating a unique textured background.
The bowl is further decorated with elegant gold-painted Clematis (Tessen) flowers, a symbol of moral integrity and perseverance in Japanese culture. The contrast between the deep blue dots, the rich gold gilding, and the white ceramic body creates a sophisticated and luxurious aesthetic typical of high-quality Kutani porcelain.
The bottom bears the hand-painted signature "Kutani Shuho" (九谷 秀峰).
