François Leroy, a former winemaker, founded Maison Leroy in 1868 with the goal of expansion. In the 1940s, his son Joseph took over the reins of the property and also invested in the Romanée-Conti estate. It wasn't until 1955 that Madame Lalou-Bize Leroy took over the house. Since then, the estate has produced a series of vintages and cuvées, each more legendary than the last. An exceptional wine taster, Lalou-Bize Leroy has built a reputation for the house and, over time, has acquired a profound knowledge of the Burgundy vineyard, developing a precise vision of what a great Burgundy wine should be. We can consider Maison Leroy's wines as precursors to those of the estate, as well as the continuation of past traditions.
