The Macallan 15 Years Old Double Cask is a core expression in the distillery's permanent lineup, celebrated for its smooth, golden butterscotch color and highly balanced character. It is crafted through the meticulous union of two distinct wood types. This core philosophy allows the expression to bridge the gap between younger profiles and ultra-premium older maturations.

The Core Cask Philosophy. Unlike the limited-edition Classic Cut series which features changing proofs and bourbon barrels, the Double Cask 15 Year Old relies on a precise maturation strategy.

The Wood: New American oak and European oak timbers are harvested, crafted into casks, and seasoned exclusively with dry Oloroso Sherry in Jerez, Spain.

The Harmony: The American oak imparts delicate, creamy notes of vanilla, citrus, and sweet caramel. Meanwhile, the European oak delivers the classic, rich, underlying spice and robust structural complexity that defines the signature Macallan style.

The ABV: 43.0% (86 Proof) is notably higher than the standard 40% found on the 12-year-old Double Cask, adding greater intensity and mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Prominent aromas of dry ginger, baked apple, honeyed orange peel, and rich toffee, accented by a delicate dusting of nutmeg and cinnamon.

Palate: A silky, medium-to-full-bodied texture. It opens with sweet orange marmalade and golden raisins, quickly moving into buttery croissants, creamy chocolate pudding, and cooked ginger.

Finish: Medium-to-long, warming, and slightly dry, leaving a soft trail of oak spice, semi-sweet cocoa, and lingering baking spices
