Kello - Seiko - Metalli - 1980-1990 - seinäkello

Fabulous vintage nautical wall clock from the 1980s. Crafted with Seiko's signature precision, this clock features a cream dial with bold black numerals and a sturdy metal case with a chrome hinge and a rubber back. This piece reflects the durability and elegance of traditional ship instruments. The color of this piece is lovely and very on trend; a muted light green, pastel sage, a pale mint tone, or a vintage enamel green. Wonderful working condition. Quartz movement running on one AA battery. Cosmetic condition is good; showing wear like marks and scuffs to the casing, and displaying minor paint loss in certain spots. The case lacks the original pin to open and lock it, this piece is replaced with a simple screw, which works perfectly as well. Dimensions (approx) Height 22 cm Width 23 cm Depth 6.5 cm The history of this maritime wall clock: Having sailed hundreds of thousands of kilometers in one of the many cabins of large cruise ships of the Atlantic, this clock has found it's way to your home. Some parts of these impressive ships are recycled, others kept and collected, like these vintage gems. Made in the 1980's in Japan these "slave" clocks were all connected by electric wire in a boat to the mother clock which was located in the captain's cabin. This set the time of the boat at each change of time zone and put the hundreds of clocks on time at the same time. This clock originally had a secondary slave connection but has now been converted to a battery operated movement. Will be packed with care and shipped insured.
