KPM - Uurna - Posliini - Erinomainen neoklassinen
An absolutely stunning and museum-quality lidded sugar bowl or bonbonniere from the prestigious Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) in Berlin.
This piece is a magnificent example of Neoclassical (Louis XVI) style. The heavily fluted body is decorated with alternating panels of pristine white and pale green, topped by a striking lilac/purple band adorned with raised, hand-painted gold festoons and ribbons.
The true highlights of this piece are the two exquisite, hand-painted medallions framed by rich gold laurel wreaths:
Front Cartouche: A highly detailed, miniature romantic landscape scene featuring figures by a riverbank, a cottage, and a distant church spire.
Back Cartouche: A vibrant, beautifully executed bouquet of polychrome summer flowers.
The piece is finished with a beautifully domed lid, matching fluting, rich gold beading, and a sculpted pinecone finial.
Base Marks:
The underside is fully hallmarked, guaranteeing its authenticity and factory decoration:
The underglaze blue Scepter mark.
The overglaze red Orb with Cross and "KPM" (This specific red mark indicates that the piece was officially painted and decorated in the KPM factory).
Various hand-painted decorator/painter numbers and symbols (e.g., "141/6 R.").
