A nice collection of wooden ritual objects from the Pays Dogon in Mali. These items were used in traditional ceremonies and funeral practices. From the Early-Dogon period and from the Tellem period (14-16th Cent.). The datation is given for reference only, the items remains subject to formal authentication. The two miniature ladders come from the Tellem period; the predecessors of the later Dogon. These were placed alongside deceased family-members as a ritual and ceremonial gift. The two staffs serve the same function and are from the same period. All items have a very nice patina. One of the staffs has some insectdamage at the end of the point. The large heavy wooden cutting plate has been used in ceremonies concerning funerary rites. Decorated with a stylised turtoise head. A rare to find object from this period. All items have been collected in situ in the Pays Dogon in the late 1990,s. The ladders are 27 and 43 cm long. The staffs are 27 and 32 cm. long. The bowl is 51 cm long.
