Sedimental Journey MiLo (1976), Netherlands. Sedimental Journey is a tactile abstract work created with acrylic paint and fragments of dried acrylic collected from the artist’s painting process. Pieces of paint that would normally be discarded were torn, cut and assembled directly onto the canvas, retaining much of their original colour and irregular surface. Together, the fragments form an organic trail across the restrained off-white field, recalling sediment, small stones, shells or material deposited along a shoreline. Scattered dark marks and splashes emphasise the contrast between the quiet background and the dense, textured formation. The work can be displayed in either landscape or portrait orientation, allowing the composition to shift from a horizontal sediment-like line to a rising vertical trace. About the Artist MiLo is a Dutch contemporary artist whose work explores abstraction through layered acrylic, scratched and etched lines, texture and spontaneous mark-making. His paintings combine controlled composition with traces of the physical painting process, often allowing materials, imperfections and accumulated surfaces to become part of the final image. His work has been acquired by private collectors internationally.
