Antique large brass naval lantern – bulged glass, protective grille and original patina

Amazeant brass vintage naval lantern of substantial size and with a strong decorative presence, characterized by sturdy construction and a beautifully developed patina over time.

The circular body features a wide bulged front lens/glass, protected by a characteristic crossed metal grille, a functionally typical element that today gives the lamp a strongly nautical and industrial aesthetic. The top is capped by a ventilated element with a bulging cap and a large carrying ring, a detail that beautifully completes the silhouette.

Inside there is a lampholder with a visible bulb. The structure rests on a solid trapezoidal brass base, which allows the lantern to be used also as a notable decorative display piece.

Particularly beautiful is the brass surface, which retains oxidation, chromatic variations, small stains, scratches and signs of use: marks consistent with the age and nature of the object, capable of giving it that authenticity hard to reproduce in modern nautical-style decorations.

From the photos the construction system and the lateral opening of the structure are also visible. A visible wire/ wiring is present but not connected, therefore the electrical system should be considered untested and to be professionally checked before any use.
