Banksy redefined modern street art by fusing political satire with accessibility, building directly upon a rich legacy left by history's greatest masters. Like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, Banksy uses art as a direct commentary on human nature and societal structures. He echoes the dramatic shadow play of Caravaggio and Rembrandt, while mirroring the rebellious spirit of Francisco Goya by confronting institutional power. His subversive approach channels the vivid emotion of Vincent van Gogh, the dreamlike surrealism of Salvador Dalí, and the raw expression of Edvard Munch and Pablo Picasso. Furthermore, Banksy reflects the structural clarity of Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne, while sharing a deep affinity with Henri Matisse and Frida Kahlo in using bold, stripped-back visual metaphors.

Finally, Banksy stands as the modern heir to pop art and urban visual culture—blending the commercial critique of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat with the monumental scale of Jackson Pollock and the provocative, media-centric installations of Damien Hirst.
