Teeastiasto - Puu ja keramiikka - Chabako-teenarkku.

This wonderful chest was used for small intimate tea ceremonies. Various objects are used for Japanese tea rituals. The handy objects are often stored in a chest. The composition of the various bowls, pots and, for example, lid holders are personal. Ceramics can therefore come from various Japanese regions. The objects in this tea chest can be used, but are also an ornament for the interior. Chabako (cha = tea, bako = box) are traditional Japanese cedar wood boxes originally used to keep tea leaves fresh and transport them safely. Tea ceremony utensil set in a wooden storage box consisting of: - A chawan 茶碗 (tea bowl) of wonderful stoneware with a beautiful green glaze. Ø 14 x 8 cm - A bamboo hishaku 柄杓 (ladle). 40 x 5 x 6cm - A large stoneware hot water container Ø 16 x 15 cm - A small laquered container to hold dry tea Ø 6,5 x 7 cm -A whisk (chasen) to whisk the matcha tea powder. 13 x 3 cm The box is 51 cm tall and 18 cm wide. This wooden chabako is used when a tea ceremony takes place away from the teacher. Sometimes the teacher uses a Chashitsu belonging to someone else to teach a Japanese tea ceremony lesson or to perform a tea ceremony for guests. This chest has been visibly used for tea ceremonies, the internal wooden ridges to hold up the different levels are sadly not all attached any more. They are included. Some smaller pieces of the bottom of the box are not fully attached anymore.
