Seiko Chronograph “Speedmaster” – Ref. 7A28-701A – October 1982 – Original Box – First Series – Men

A highly collectible Seiko 7A28-701A Chronograph from October 1982, representing one of the earliest and most desirable executions of the legendary 7A28 family.

This is the configuration serious Seiko collectors look for: the early first-series example, produced before the later market association with the “Speedmaster” name became widespread. For collectors, that matters. These early watches carry the purest and most original expression of the design and are becoming increasingly difficult to secure in honest, original condition.

The watch remains fully original throughout and is accompanied by its original box, an increasingly rare survival for a 1982 Seiko chronograph.

What makes this reference so important is not only the design, but also its place in Seiko history. The 7A28 line is one of the foundational quartz chronograph families of the period, and the earliest references have developed real collector status. This 7A28-701A offers exactly the kind of sharp, understated, purposeful look that has made the model a long-time enthusiast favorite.

The dial and hands are in excellent condition, which is one of the most important points on these early Seiko chronographs. The black dial layout remains clean, legible, and balanced, with the crisp tool-watch character that defines the reference.

The watch works well and presents beautifully on its original bracelet.
