10 women by Peter Lindbergh, Schirmer Mosel, 1999, 120 pages, texte anglais.
The supermodel phenomenon has captured the 90s all over the globe, surpassing everyknown form of star cult. Peter Lindbergh, German photographer living in Paris, made a major contribution to the optical creation of this worldwide myth. The most beautiful and most celebrated supermodels owe many of their best photographs to Peter Lindbergh's creativity, perception, and particularly his sensitive camera eye. In his first book Ten Women, published in 1996, Peter Lindbergh has devoted one chapter to each of his most beautiful young Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Kristen McMenamy, Kate Moss, Tatjana Patitz, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Amber Valetta. Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld wrote a short foreword to the book, not devoid of a streak of melancholy. Argentinian star designer Juan Gatti composed the orderly format of this publication, now available in a softcover reprint. Peter Lindbergh, born in 1944, is one of the world's most successful photographers. His campaigns for Armani, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, and Kathleen Madden have caused a furor both in the world of fashion and with the public. Karl Lagerfeld, born in Hamburg in 1938, joined the French haute couture label Chanel in 1983 and has been its artistic director to the present day. Juan Gatti, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1950, is an internationally acclaimed art director and graphic designer and a long-time collaborator of Peter Lindbergh's. His clients include international fashion magazines, beauty labels as well as movie directors such as Pedro Almodovar.
