Anna Brownell Jameson (17 mai 1794 – 17 mars 1860) était une écrivain et féministe britannique.
De 1821 à 1825, elle occupe le poste de gouvernante des enfants d'Edward John Littleton (1er Baron Hatherton), devenu plus tard Baron Hatherton, quand elle épouse Robert Simpson Jameson en 1825. Ils n’eurent pas d’enfants. Son mariage s’avère malheureux et le couple se sépare en 1829. Cette année là, elle se fait un nom lorsque son roman "Amours des Poètes" (Loves of the Poets) est publié.
La première œuvre illustrant ses pensées originales fut "Caractéristiques des femmes" (Characteristics of Women) en 1832 qui fit connaître Anna Jameson à l’extérieur de l’Angleterre, tant en Europe qu’en Amérique du Nord. À l’automne de 1836, à contrecœur, Anna Jameson vint à Toronto rejoindre son mari qui, depuis trois ans, était procureur général du Haut-Canada. Là-bas, elle a commencé le récit de son voyage, "Les études d'hiver et les randonnées d'été au Canada" (Winter studies and summer rambles), qui a été publié en Grande-Bretagne en 1838, fut très populaire et connut de nombreuses éditions.

I was getting rather anxious when suddenly she appeared - personally - the letters she had written to apprise us of her movements having been by some chance delayed - and two days after herself - I am now sorry I troubled you about her - & she is sending you all her kind regards - regrets equally that you have been expecting her. hShe came direct from Tunis to Genoa & thence to Santa Lucia - after a long series of cold and stormy weather - we have now the delicious Italian Spring in all its glory & I am enjoying Rome very much - as much as an old woman can, who is no longer able to encounter much fatigue and do so much work as heretofore - Tell your dear Mother how I value the few lines she wrote to me, so kind of her - & tell her that I shall wish to return home by Marseilles for the pleasure of seeing you all again - my very kind regards to all your circle - Mrs Palmer most particularly - I hope she is better - Before Parker had just been telling me [...] »
