Amethyst crystal vase – Ludwig Moser & Söhne, Karlsbad

Czechoslovak production from the first third of the 20th century.

Karlsbad (Bohemian) crystal, renowned for its purity, high lead content and optical quality, offering the transparency and depth of colour characteristic of Moser productions.

Deep amethyst tone, coloured in the mass.

The body is decorated with a wide gilt engraved frieze featuring a neoclassical-inspired motif.

Engraved signature under the base:

“Wholesome / Echtie Karlsbad / Moser / Karlsbad”.

“Echt Karlsbad”

Old German.

Echt = genuine / authentic
Karlsbad = place of production

Karlsbad was one of the major centres of Bohemian crystal.

A chip to the foot is present and visible in the photographs.

Gilding shows wear consistent with age.
