Impressive 67mm Swiss "Goliath" Pocket Watch - Green Guilloché Enamel Cartouche Dial - 192g - c. 1905
Detailed Description
The "Goliath" Scale:
This is an oversized "Goliath" model, measuring a massive 67mm in diameter. These large-format watches were the luxury "smartphones" of their day—designed for maximum visibility and status. Weighing in at 192 grams, it feels substantial and premium in the hand.
The Rare "Fancy" Dial:
Visuals: Features a striking white enamel base with 12 Green Guilloché Enamel cartouches. The translucent green enamel over the engine-turned sunburst pattern creates a "glowing" effect when it catches the light.
Markings: Signed "NON MAGNETIC LEVER" and "SWISS MADE."
Hands: Original blued-steel spade hands and a matching subsidiary seconds hand.
Condition: excellent preservation of the green enamel. Minor hairlines on the white enamel (notably near the 6 o'clock sub-seconds), which is common for a dial of this scale.
The Movement & Case:
Movement: A high-quality Swiss 15-jewel bridge movement. It features a non-magnetic hairspring, a technological boast from the early 1900s to protect the watch from magnetic interference.
Case Material: Likely Argentan (Nickel Silver), known for its durability and resistance to wear. It has a high-polish finish with an inner hinged dust cover (cuvette).
Setting Mechanism: Pin-Set. To set the time, you must press the small silver button (located near the 1 o'clock position) while turning the crown.
