Antique Victorian hair brush made by the renowned silversmith James Deakin & Sons in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
An authentic late Victorian sterling silver dressing table brush, clearly hallmarked and representative of the elegant silverware produced in Sheffield at the end of the 19th century.
The piece bears clear and authentic British hallmarks:
Lion passant – indicating sterling silver (.925)
Crown – mark of the Sheffield Assay Office
Date letter “e” – corresponding to the assay year 1897
Maker’s mark JD / JD&S for James Deakin & Sons

The brush features a beautifully detailed repoussé floral/foliate decoration, typical of late Victorian design. At the center there is an elegant oval cartouche, traditionally intended for a monogram.
