Striking specimen of genuine Burmese amber (Burmite) measuring approximately 1,5 × 2,0 cm, containing a beautifully preserved winged parasitoid wasp. The insect is displayed in a natural three-dimensional position, with its delicate wings, elongated antennae, slender legs, and characteristic narrow waist clearly visible.
Originating from the renowned amber deposits of northern Myanmar, this specimen dates to the Middle Cretaceous, approximately 99 million years ago. Parasitoid wasps were already important components of ancient forest ecosystems, playing a key role in regulating insect populations during the age of dinosaurs.
