Georg Greve-Lindau (1876-1963).
"The Flood"
Etching, 1909.
Signed in pencil. Also with monogram and year on the plate.
Sheet approx: 25 x 32 cm.
A German painter who progressed from Impressionism to later experimenting with Expressionist techniques, he is renowned for his remarkable technical mastery of light and color in landscapes, portraits, and prints. Although he enjoyed great prestige at the beginning of the 20th century, winning the prestigious Villa Romana Prize in Florence, after the First World War he was largely sidelined from the epicenter of the avant-garde and his name fell into obscurity. In recent years, museums and specialists have promoted a profound historical reevaluation of his work.
A work we consider sublime. In very good condition. See photographs.
