History & Collective Value

During the 1950s and 1960s, Eastern Bloc cooperatives pushed the boundaries of design despite material shortages, resulting in robust and highly artistic everyday objects. Based on historical design matches, this mirror is attributed to the renowned but long-defunct cooperative workshops "SPECTRUM" in the Grzegórzki district of Kraków. Because it lacks its original paper tag, exact dating remains an exciting historical puzzle, but the artisanal craftsmanship speaks for itself. It is a short-series workshop item, not a mass-produced piece. The Provenance Story

This mirror carries a beautiful personal history. It was discovered hidden away in a dark corner of an old attic, inside a vintage house I purchased alongside an abundance of untouched, authentic PRL mementos left behind by the previous owners. Having spent decades in storage, this item is now entering the secondary market for the very first time. You are bidding on an undiscovered, true one-of-a-kind survivor.

Condition & Authenticity (Unrestored Wabi-Sabi Vintage)

The item is preserved in its 100% original, untouched vintage condition. It has only been gently dusted to preserve its immense collector value; the final decision regarding restoration or deep cleaning is left entirely to the buyer.

The Glass: Features magnificent, heavy patina, extensive foxing (desilvering), and dramatic dark oxidation spots that beautifully tell the story of its 60+ year lifespan.

The Frame: The iron structure shows authentic surface rust, dust, and original minor cosmetic traces—including genuine, historical wax spots from decades of storage near candlelight—which serve as an absolute guarantee of its age and authenticity.

The Construction: True to raw, industrial workshop methods, there is no wooden backing board. The mirror glass is directly exposed from behind, showing its original rust-orange protective paint, locked into the frame by original metal tabs and aged cardboard wedges.
