Early 20th Century Delft Blue Ceramic Vase – Hand-Painted Maritime Scene
A beautiful and decorative Dutch Delft-style ceramic vase dating from the early 20th century, distinguished by its elegant architectural silhouette and finely hand-painted cobalt blue decoration.
The vase features a charming maritime landscape with a traditional sailing boat, surrounded by stylized Art Nouveau-inspired floral and ornamental motifs. The decoration has been executed entirely by hand, resulting in subtle tonal variations that enhance the artistic character of the piece.
The underside bears several authentic factory and workshop marks, including: an impressed “404” model number, a hand-painted decorator’s mark “Delft”, the hand-painted initials “AE”, identifying the decorator.
These original marks are consistent with Dutch Delft production from the first decades of the 20th century.
The vase remains in excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks, or restorations observed. The interior shows only some light age-related traces and deposits from previous use, entirely consistent with its age. The glaze retains a beautiful soft patina and fine craquelure typical of antique Delft ceramics.
