Antique French Glazed Wall Plaque – Gallant Scene, Rococo Revival, Circa 1880–1900
An elegant and highly decorative antique French glazed earthenware wall plaque dating to the late 19th century, beautifully executed in the Rococo Revival style. Measuring an impressive 40.5 cm in diameter, the plaque depicts a charming fête galante scene inspired by the romantic paintings of the 18th century, featuring a finely dressed lady and gentleman in a pastoral landscape surrounded by flowers and doves, traditional symbols of love and harmony.
The image is richly detailed with delicate, softly muted colors beneath a clear glaze, while the naturally developed craquelure throughout the surface enhances its authentic antique character and visual appeal.
This decorative wall plaque is a wonderful example of the enduring fascination with Louis XV aesthetics during the Belle Époque and would make an exceptional addition to a collection of French ceramics or period interior décor.
Very Good antique condition with age-related wear, including overall craquelure, minor paint losses and surface wear consistent with its age. No major structural damage observed.
