Description fournie par le vendeur

Représentation de dragons et tigres par un peintre de la fin de l'époque Edo au Japon.
The Cloud Dragon painting and the Bamboo Tiger painting have played an important role in traditional Japanese ink painting. These works are from the Kano school, influenced by Chinese painting, and especially from the Muromachi period onward, dragons were considered extremely important subjects. The Cloud Dragon painting is said to represent the eight guardians who protect Buddhist law, and the main hall of a temple is where Buddhist teachings are given to the public. The dragon, as a water deity that brings rain, is said to pour down Buddhist teachings like rain. It’s also meant to symbolize the dragon protecting the temple from fire.

The Bamboo Tiger painting shows a tiger glaring sideways, depicting a scene full of intense power and confrontation.

These paintings have played an important role in traditional Japanese ink painting.
