Deux vases céramiques apothicaires italiennes en majolique, faits à la main à Faenza (Italie), datant d’environ 1950–1960, composés d’un grand pot à couvercle et d’un petit récipient verseur couvert, en blanc et vert avec des touches d’ocre et de brun et des inscriptions pharmaceutiques latines SALVIA OFF. et POTIO PLUMB., avec l’étiquette Faenza d’origine à l’intérieur du plus grand; les deux en très bon état vintage avec de légères traces d’usage et le couvercle du plus petit restauré.

A charming pair of hand-painted Italian apothecary ceramic vessels from Faenza, renowned for its centuries-old tradition of artistic ceramics. Executed in the classic maiolica style, the pieces are decorated in elegant shades of green, ochre and brown with stylised acanthus foliage, botanical ornaments and traditional Latin pharmaceutical inscriptions.
The larger lidded jar bears the inscription “SALVIA OFF.”, referring to Salvia officinalis (common sage), while the smaller covered pouring vessel is marked “POTIO PLUMB.”, a historical pharmaceutical designation once used in European apothecaries. Their refined silhouettes and hand-painted decoration faithfully evoke the appearance of traditional pharmacy containers.
The original Faenza – Ceramica Decorée a Mano label remains preserved inside one of the vessels, confirming its handcrafted Italian origin.
The larger jar is preserved in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of age and use. The smaller pouring vessel remains in good vintage condition, its lid has been restored after an old crack and displays visible restoration, while the body itself remains in very good condition. Both pieces show light wear consistent with age.
A beautiful decorative pair for collectors of Italian maiolica, apothecary ceramics or traditional European pharmacy ware.
