The first edition of this design was published in 1950. The current print is from a later edition, using the original woodblocks.

The measurements of the image itself (excluding the margins) are 36.4 x 22.9 cm.

Ide Gakusui (1899 - 1978) was a traditional painter in the Japanese style (nihonga) who specialized in kacho-ga (illustrations d’oiseaux et de fleurs). Ide designed prints for the Watanabe Publishing Company beginning in the spring of 1949 and continued his association with Watanabe Shōzaburō (1885-1962) until the mid-1950s.

The print is in very good condition. A faint outline of a previous matting can be seen in the margins. There are remnants of a previous mounting on the back, and a small red stamp.
