Vase en porcelaine de style Samson, Paris, circa 1900, en bon état avec usures dues à l’âge et une restauration; silhouette triple gourde avec décoration florale polychrome et détails dorés.
Description fournie par le vendeur
An exceptionally decorative antique porcelain vase by Samson, Paris, bearing the manufacture’s mark to the underside.
The vase is distinguished by its spectacular triple-gourd silhouette, composed of three graduated bulbous sections rising into an elegant elongated neck. The unusual architectural form gives the piece an impressive sculptural presence while retaining the refinement characteristic of Samson’s historicist porcelain production.
The decoration is particularly elaborate. The luminous ivory-white porcelain is richly hand-painted with delicate polychrome floral bouquets and scattered blossoms, rendered in soft shades of rose, coral, violet and green. These naturalistic flowers are contrasted by highly ornamental upper sections featuring intricate orange-red latticework, scrolling green motifs and finely applied gilt details.
Fine gilded borders accentuate the different sections of the vase, emphasizing its remarkable silhouette and adding warmth and brilliance to the composition. The combination of floral painting, geometric ornament and rich gilding creates an exceptionally decorative piece inspired by the great European porcelain traditions of the 18th century. The vase bears a Samson mark to the underside, confirming its manufacture.
The piece has a restoration, consistent with its age and history. The restoration should be considered part of its condition and is mentioned for complete transparency. Despite this intervention, the vase retains a striking decorative presence, with its elaborate painted decoration and elegant proportions beautifully preserved.
A highly attractive example of Samson Paris porcelain, combining an unusual sculptural form, sophisticated hand-painted decoration and the exuberant historicist aesthetic for which the manufacture became renowned.
